NEW DELHI: The US presidential election is less than a week away now. On November 8, 2016, arguably the entire world would be watching as the United States of America chooses its 45th president. And as tough as the fight is between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, it's still hard to say who will get elected to the Oval Office. But it seems that the choice of Indian female voters using Tinder is pretty clear.
The results of Tinder's recently-launched 'Swipe the Vote' poll are in. And after millions of swipes, Tinder users have chosen a definitive winner - Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Poll participants swiped after weighing in on numerous important issues such as taxes, gun control, immigration and education. And in every country (where the poll was made available), the majority sided with Clinton. But what's most interesting is that in India, an astounding 96% of female voters have swiped in favour of the Democratic presidential nominee.
Having said that, 71% of Tinder users in Russia said that they would vote for Republican nominee Donald Trump, despite 76% of them agreeing with Hillary Clinton on the aforementioned issues.
Ever since Donald Trump announced his candidacy, the Republican presidential nominee's campaign has been marked with negative remarks made towards women and a string of other controversies. So it's not exactly surprising that an overwhelming majority of Indian female voters feel Hillary Clinton should be the next president of the United States.
For those unaware, Tinder rolled out its 'Swipe the Vote' feature last week in 16 countries around the world. Launched in partnership with Rock the Vote, the feature claimed to be one of the largest global polls of millennials in history. The poll surveyed users in the US, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Spain and the UK.
