Launched in India with a price tag of ₹4,590, the Samsung Z2 is the company’s first 4G enabled Tizen-powered smartphone and is being pegged as a smartphone for first-time users who are looking to jump the smartphone bandwagon leaving their feature phones behind.
Any takers? We do not anticipate that Samsung Z2 will be a huge success and it will make Samsung millions, but it will definitely help the company diversify in one of its strongest markets in the world. Why? Because Samsung Z2 packs descent hardware that will definitely compete with the entry level models of LAVA, Micromax, Gionee among others. Further, those who are not fond of Android (Android haters… this is for you), may very well be intrigued by Tizen and may jump the bandwagon just to give it a shot.
Samsung Z2 does have that ‘plasticy’ feel, because – well – it is made of all plastic. Moving on from the aesthetics part, the 4-inch display of Z2 is capable of a maximum of 480×800 pixels resolution and while it is definitely not a great display to have, it is doable. Comparatively lesser known Spreadtrum (SC9830) 1.5Ghz quad-core processor is at the reins of the Z2 and to help the processor is 1GB RAM. Storage isn’t all that bad either with 8GB onboard space and ability to expand to 128GB using a microSD card. Further, the 5-megapixel rear camera is accompanied by LED flash, but we will leave it at that because no matter what we say, the camera isn’t just enough for descent enough shots. Selfies aren’t going to be any good either because of the VGA front-shooter. The phone has a 1,500 mAh battery and Samsung claims it can deliver up to 8 hours of 4G web browsing on single charge.
