How To Get Rid Of Sunburn Overnight?

1. Coconut Oil And Apple Cider Vinegar Remedy

Here are the things you will need:
  • Coconut oil (100% pure)
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 spray bottle
Method:
  1. Pour ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle and add one cup of cold water to it.
  2. Shake the bottle vigorously so that both the ACV and the water are mixed well.
  3. Spray this mixture on the sunburnt skin area liberally and dab the excess of falling drops with a napkin or towel.
  4. Wait for some time and you will experience instant relief from the sting of the sunburn.
  5. Alternatively, if you are unable to spray the water, you can dab the water and the ACV mixture using a gentle washcloth.
Healing The Sunburn:
This is the extended part of the first method.
  1. Once the apple cider vinegar has dried completely, pour a few drops of pure coconut oil on the affected areas and rub gently.
  2. Due to the heat, the lumps of coconut oil will melt and may drip, so please keep a towel handy to catch the drops of oil.
  3. Since coconut oil takes time to get absorbed into the skin, you will have to wait at least for half an hour to let it get absorbed completely.
  4. If you are using this treatment before going to bed, you can go to sleep and let the oil do its work.
  5. Throw an old towel or a shirt on the sheets and go to sleep to avoid making the sheet sticky, as the skin heals from inside.
Usually, for a light to medium sunburn, you will get overnight results. For a really bad sunburn, you may need to repeat the treatment twice or thrice. Moreover, depending upon the sensitivity of your skin, the effect may vary.

2. Black Tea Soak

Black tea is known to contain lots of phytonutrients and antioxidants that have immense healing power . Here are the things that you will need:
  • A bathtub (ceramic will be better as it won’t stain)
  • 1 pitcher
  • 1 rag or piece of cloth that you won’t mind getting stained and soiled
  • Water
  • 3 Black tea bags (preferably Earl Gray)
Method:
  1. Take the pitcher and fill it with warm water.
  2. Soak the tea bags in the water until the water becomes almost black.
  3. Strip down your clothes to avoid staining them.
  4. Once the tea water comes to lukewarm or normal temperature, dip the rag into it and dab it slowly on the areas with sunburn.
  5. Let it sit and dry. Do not wipe it off and if the water is dripping, collect it gently with the tip of a towel.
  6. Once the first application is dry, you can reapply the tea water on the sunburn but never wash it.
  7. Let the tea water sit all through the night and then shower in the morning.
  8. Usually it takes only one or two applications to cure the sunburn.
  9. The application works best if you apply the black tea water sooner.
  10. In case you have no time for soaking the tea bags for long, you can directly apply the wet black tea bags on the sunburn.

3. Lemon Juice, Rose Water, And Cucumber Pack

It is very easy to prepare this pack, as all the ingredients are easily available in your kitchen closet. Cucumber and lemon are two natural bleaching agents and are effective in lightening the redness caused due to sunburn. Lemon juice is also rich in citric acid and vitamin C , which are helpful in lightening the tone of the skin. Vitamin C neutralizes the damage caused due to the free radicals to the skin, and its powerful antioxidants help to lighten the age spots, tan and dark spots. But when you are using the lemon juice and cucumber remedy, make sure that you do not go directly under the sun for some time as it can increase your sensitivity to the sun rays. If at all you have to go out, use a sunscreen with high SPF.
The rosewater and cucumber juice work as cooling agents and soothe the blemished skin.
Method:
  1. Take 1 tablespoon each of lemon juice, rose water and cucumber juice.
  2. Mix them in a bowl and apply using cotton in the affected areas.
  3. Let it dry or leave it for 10 minutes and wash off using cold water.
  4. Daily application of this pack ensures that you have an evenly toned skin.

4Honey And Papaya Pack

Papaya contains skin-benefitting enzymes that help heal the sunburn faster (3). The papain enzyme in the papaya lightens the skin and helps to remove the sunburn, thereby reducing the visibility of blemishes and scars significantly. Other enzymes present in papaya renew and exfoliate the skin. Honey is known for its nourishing, healing, softening and moisturizing properties.
Method:
  1. Take ½ a cup papaya pulp and mash it finely.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon honey to it and mix it well.
  3. Apply this paste on the skin and leave it for half an hour.
  4. Clean the face with plain water. ]
You can use any of the above remedies to treat sunburn overnight. However, make sure that you check for allergies or sensitivities for any of the ingredients, or else instead of getting relief from sunburn, the application might increase the symptoms of redness and itchiness. It is advisable to use pure organic products for best and quick results.
